Introducing itself as one of the rare romance and drama driven movies with an emphasis on faith in God, LoveLight Pictures presents THE FATHER’S LOVE.
The faith-based film, set in New York City, showcases messages of heartbreak, hope and forgiveness. There is also a powerful theme of faith that symbolizes the heavenly Father’s love and ability to heal. THE FATHER’S LOVE hopes to inspire and encourage women in relationships.
Graceful Chic caught up with the one and only Sharon Kon who produced and wrote The Father’s Love and she gave us the scoop on the story behind the story.

GC: How did you create the concept for the movie?
SK: It’s partly inspired by my own story. There was a season in my life where I faced a time of trials, insecurity and heartbreak. I think this film will speak to many who may be going through or have gone through similar struggles.
I feel like there is a need for people to know what they are truly worth; that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, that there is a heavenly Father that loves them. To truly know that and to know who they are and to be free to be who they were created to be. Self-esteem is a huge issue among women. I think this is some of the issues that we address and it’s so important.
GC: Tell us about the casting process for the female lead. Angela Lin
SK: I had to send out to agents for a casting call because I wanted an Asian lead female and I knew I was going to have a tough time. Casting had mentioned this girl to me and I looked at her website and for some reason I knew that she was going to be the girl who played the role. When we met I asked her, “Why don’t you tell me your story?” And when she did, I felt like she was the one and I hired her on the spot.
GC: What about casting for the male lead?
SK: I actually auditioned a lot of people for the role and no one could play it. And when I finally met Eric McKay for coffee, I knew he was going to be the guy who played that role. So really both my key actors didn’t have to audition.
GC: How long was the filming process?
SK: It was really short. We filmed for 18 days. We filmed in the midst of [Hurricane] Sandy in 2012. There were a lot of things in our way. We had to halt production for a few days because of what happened.
GC What is the movie’s release date?
SK: The red carpet premiere is August 20. We will have Q&A session after the premiere.
GC: Tell us about the “I Am Loved” campaign.
SK: There are actually non-Christian and Christian people that went to the streets to join us for the campaign. We had everybody write about how they felt loved. It’s such an important issue to address and for male and females to know that whatever emptiness we have inside is the hope and love we may not have found but it is there. We made it a t-shirt campaign. I think that everyone should know that they are loved, especially from the heavenly father. It is an affirmation to know why they are truly loved. It is such a deep question that we sometimes struggle to know the answer.
We love the message of this motion picture. It speaks to many people about the true meaning of love. It’s a story that resonates with many young people in defining self worth. Reserve a date, invite a friend and go see THE FATHER’S LOVE and support a faith-based movie in the process. The film is fun and wholesome, and it delivers a great message. We give it thumbs up!
Father’s Love will be in selected markets starting this August: New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. See Movie Trailer
