Praise the Lord!”  This is the recent testimony from Pastor Saeed Abedine who is currently incarcerated for his Christian faith in Iran. Abedini has been in prison for over 2 years because he “undermined the Iranian government by creating a network of Christian house churches and … attempting to sway Iranian youth away from Islam,” according to the sentencing judge.

The high profile case has gather much support here in the US and abroad. His family has used social media, including this Facebook page to provide updates. His wife, Naghmeh shared this encouraging account concerning Sayeed’s father’s visit to his son in prison this February.

“The amazing part of the visit was that they started praying together and worshipping together and sharing from God’s Word together and the guards were there watching and didn’t seem to want to end the visit! They were allowing them to pray and worship together. The normal 20 minute visit turned into 40 minutes which turned into an hour which turned into a few hours! Saeed and his father were shocked the amount of time that they were allowed. The presence of the Lord was so strong that the guards did not want to intervene and end the visit! Praise the Lord!” wrote Naghmeh.

Abedini, an Iranian native, converted from Islam to Christianity. He became an ordained minister in 2008. Accord to various reports, the Abedinis have been credited with establishing about 100 house churches in 30 Iranian cities with more than 2,000 members.

We continue to pray for Pastor Abedini and his family. We also remember all other believers who are constantly under persecution for their faith in many parts of the world. Greater is He that is within you, than the one that is in the world!
